Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship Overview:
The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is an initiative of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Clore Leadership, which offers middle- to-senior career professionals in the arts and culture sector an exceptional opportunity to develop as leaders in the UK. The fellowship is predominately funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and also enables approximately five International fellows to join 20 UK and other national fellows on the Clore Leadership Fellowship Programme, which has developed outstanding cultural leaders for more than16 years.

Program Objectives:
The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship aims to enhance and revolutionize cultural practice and engagement by fostering leadership potential, expertise, and skills.
Program Experience:
“The fellowship brings some of the UK and the world’s most innovative and dynamic cultural leaders together for an intensive and deeply personal and professional year of learning,” . The Clore Leadership Fellowship is created to aid the fellows in discovering their personal leadership journey via a process of personalized learning adventures that meet the distinctive needs, aims, and context of each individual.
Program Duration and Structure:
The fellowship will be conducted between September 2024 and May 2025. Therefore, it creates a contextually relevant and sustainability-focused opportunity for exceptional cultural leaders at a high point in their profession. It is adaptable and learner-lead, so a significant level of commitment and curiosity is necessary.
Learning Approach:
The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship emphasizes experiential learning, grounded in real-world practice, and informed by contemporary leadership theories and methodologies.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applications are welcome from individuals hailing from the following countries:
- Brazil
- China
- Egypt
- India
- Jordan
- Lebanon
- Mexico
- South Africa
To qualify for the Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, applicants must:
- Express an intention to return to their home country upon completion of the study period.
- Possess a degree equivalent to at least a good UK second-class honours degree or demonstrate equivalent professional training and/or experience.
- Have accrued a minimum of five years of work experience or its equivalent by the conclusion of 2023.
- Fulfill the minimum prerequisites outlined in accordance with the primary fellowships scheme.
- Exhibit a proficient command of English, which will be evaluated through the application form and potentially during the interview phase.
- Not hold British citizenship or dual British citizenship.
- Not currently serve as an employee, former employee, or have immediate familial relations* with employees of His Majesty’s Government, British Council, sponsoring UK universities, or associated entities such as British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, UKVI, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Note: Immediate relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner, or unmarried partners (where the couple has maintained a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).
Benefits
A Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship includes a set training budget to cover:
- Up to two return economy flights from your home country to the UK to undertake fellowship activities
- Accommodation while in the UK
- Living expenses while in the UK
- A period of secondment for approximately 4-6 weeks at a cultural institution in the UK
- Individually tailored fellowship learning plan which may include participation in courses conferences and other processional development activities in the UK
- Course and conference fees within the UK
- Training and development costs within the UK
- Travel in the UK
Programme structure
As a part of Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, each international fellow will undertake an individually tailored programme based in the UK which will include:
· Two residential leadership courses in September 2024 and May 2025
· Three day-long non-residential skills-based workshops
· A one-day ‘Online Climate Assembly’
· A 360° leadership profile
· A secondment in a UK based cultural organisation, (normally in an organisation or field very different to your usual workplace or practice) where you’ll be working on a ‘live’ project set by your host organisation
· Bespoke learning opportunities through conferences, courses and study visits and peer/sector networking.
· Focused support from a mentor or coach.
· Thought leadership exploration through a written provocation paper.
