    DAG HAMMARSKJÖLD JOURNALISM FELLOWSHIPS 2024 (FULLY FUNDED)

    2024 Dag Hammarskjöld Journalism Fellowships

    Applications are currently being submitted for the 2024 Dag Hammarskjöld Journalism Fellowships. The Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists requests that applications be sent in by career newspaper, television, radio, or internet journalists from predominantly developing nations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania. The duration of the fellowship is anticipated to be about 10 weeks of the 79th United Nations General Assembly settlement. Applicants should prove a deep concern for global issues and the activities of the U.N. and its constituent institutions. Both possible full-time and freelance reporters should submit an application.

    The chosen journalists may see how the U.N. operates in practice by participating in working sessions, daily press conferences, and one-to-one interviews.     Eligibility Criteria:

    • Passport: Applicant journalists must possess a valid passport: to apply for (and acquire) an I-1 journalist visa from a U.S. Embassy or Consulate, to accept the Fellowship.
    • Work samples: Applicants must submit work samples dated no earlier than 2023 (see Work Samples on Application Form).
    • Employment: Applicants should be employed by bona fide media organizations (print, television, radio, or web journalism) to independently produce news and information for mass audiences.
    • Spoken English: Proficiency in spoken English is required, as one of the primary languages used at the UN.
    • Not eligible: Journalists younger than 25 and older than 35 are ineligible and students of journalism.
    • European citizens: Journalists residing in European countries are not eligible for the Fellowship competition unless they are still reporting to audiences in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania.

    Benefits:

    • The Fund will arrange and pay for all travel expenses for Fellowship Recipients. However, travel may not be booked or confirmed until a Fellow has received a valid I-1 Visa from the journalist to enter from the United States.
    • Fellowship recipients will also be accommodated in fully furnished studio apartments near the United Nations by the Fund.

    Application Requirements:

    1. A fully completed online Application Form
    2. A minimum of three work samples which have been published no earlier than 2023. If the work samples are not in English, a brief summary of each sample in English must be provided. If the reports of the applicant are available online, the URL must be submitted. Copies of the work samples not available online should be uploaded on the Application Form in Word, PDF, MP3, or JPEG format. Work samples not available on the media website homepage also may be uploaded on a publicly accessible online media service, e.g. YouTube.
    3. A Letter of Endorsement from the editor or director concern of news organization employing the journalist should: a) grant the journalist a paid leave of absence for the duration of the Fellowship in the event that it is awarded; b) agree to publish or broadcast the reports written by the journalist while the journalist is attending the United Nations; c) provide contact information (e-mail, phone, etc) for further verification. An editor endorsing an application pledges to cover all transmission in case charges apply and agree to publication or broadcasting of the reports submitted.
    4. A statement of no more than 500 words expressing interest in the Fellowship and explaining how the Fellowship will help increase the candidate’s knowledge of international diplomacy and issues debated at the United Nations.
    5. A copy of the applicant’s current passport. Applications without a copy of a valid passport will not be considered.

    UNESCO Internship Programme 2024 Now Open for Applications

    The UNESCO Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain a better understanding of UNESCO’s mission, programs, and operations. By taking part in practical and theoretical work, candidates may broaden their minds and professional experiences.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Age: Applicants must be at least 20 years old.

    Academic Qualifications:

    • Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate programme or have recently graduated with a Master’s or PhD degree or equivalent or a second university degree or higher.
    • Candidates who have completed their full-time bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply for the internship and must be pursuing a Master’s or a PhD degree.

    Program Details

    • Duration: Internships last from one to six months.
    • Visa: Interns must secure the correct visas themselves.
    • Travel: Interns must arrange and pay for visa arrangements and travel expenses to the duty station.
    • Medical Insurance: Interns must present a full health insurance plan covering the entire period valid in the host country. UNESCO only provides minimal workplace accident insurance.
    • Medical Certificate: Prior to the internship, interns must submit a certificate from a medical practitioner confirming that they are fit for work. No more thorough medical data are needed.
    • Supporting Documents: Interns must submit a copy of the original ID for interns and a certificate of enrollment or diploma for recent graduates before the internship commences.
    • Leave: Interns are entitled to 2.5 days for each calendar month of the internship, which can be combined for vacation and sick days.

The selected candidates will be offered a two-year fixed-term contract CDD at the Bank – as young executives in training. The first six – month will be considered a probation period.     Candidate Profile

    Applicants who wish to apply for this program must meet the following conditions:

    GERMAN BUNDESTAG INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY SCHOLARSHIPS (IPS) 2025 FOR YOUNG UNIVERSITY GRADUATES (FULLY FUNDED TO BERLIN, GERMANY)

    2025 German Bundestag International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) Now Open for Applications

    The 2025 German Bundestag International Parliamentary Scholarships are currently open for applications. The German Bundestag invites politically and socially committed young university graduates from southern Africa including Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, East Africa comprising Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, West Africa which includes Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal. This unique scholarship program will take place in Berlin and will start on January. This scholarship has been offered by the German Bundestag since 2020 for brilliant and politically interested young university graduates from sub-Saharan Africa. This program seeks to give the fellows an insight into the German parliamentary system and induce their responsibility for the fundamental democratic values in their home countries. With this four-week intensive program, this program offers up to 24 scholarships for the candidates to learn about the German parliamentary and Bundestag’s political decision-making processes.

    Program Period

    The program is scheduled to be implemented from January 1st to 31st, 2025.

    The internship in German Bundestag member’s office is the central point of the program and lasts for one week. The participants will not only learn about parliamentary democracy and familiarize themselves with the Bundestag’s operations but also gain training on such issues as pluralism, minority protection, and cultural rights preservation. Certain workshops will be held for the participants, including some on corruption and intercultural training. Finally, a workshop on project management will be given to help the fellows develop their own projects to promote democracy and civil society in their country of origin.

    Scholarship

    The program participants will acquire a 700-euro scholarship and accommodation in a student residential complex free of charge. Fully paid travel to and from Berlin, as well as health, accident, and liability insurance, will be provided.

    Selection Criteria for Scholarship

    The scholarship is intended to appeal to well-trained, internationally minded individuals passionate in politics from Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.     2024 AFRICAN PLANT NUTRITION SCHOLAR AWARD PROGRAM FOR AFRICAN GRADUATE STUDENTS  ($2,000)

    African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award Program 2024

    Applications are now open for the 2024 African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award Program. The program comprises ten scholarships amounting to USD $2,000 each, which will be presented to ten exceptional African graduate students in any scientific field relevant to plant nutrition and the management of nutrients administered to crops. The student will receive the payment, and there are no duties assigned to the recipient.

    Eligible Graduate Faculty Students

    To qualify, graduate students must meet the following criteria:

    1. Be currently enrolled in an Africa-based degree-awarding institution.
    2. Be completing an M.Sc. or MPhil or progressing research on PhDs; as of the submission deadline, applicants may be considered. M.Sc. and M.Phil. students will be encouraged to enter their research phase, and other applicants should have graduated from their training.
    3. Be pursing degrees in soil science, agronomy, horticultural science, or tree crops science whose primary focus is polyatomic nutrition.
    4. Applicants who have already received an award from IPNI will be disqualified.

    Application Requirements

    1. Copies of transcripts of all university work ever attempted, including grades received throughout and at graduation. You will need to submit the cumulative and final grade records (GPA or percentile) from these transcripts electronically.

    One Young World Summit Building Tomorrow Scholarship 2024

    Apply now for the 2024 One Young World Summit Building Tomorrow Scholarship. OYW will broaden the discussion surrounding AI and its potential use to support sustainability and urban resilience through real-world scenarios, immersive experiences, and meaningful conversations with Holcim experts. This scholarship will cover the cost of participation for an interdisciplinary group of five young leaders in the upcoming One Young World Summit 2024 in Montréal as part of Holcim’s contingent.     2024 University of Birmingham Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship

    Applications for the 2024 University of Birmingham Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship are now available. One scholarship is offered by the International Development Department, University of Birmingham, MSc Development Policy and Politics, with Mo Ibrahim Foundation Internship.

    Scholarship Details:

    The Mo Ibrahim Foundation is providing the scholarship for a two-year program. The winning candidate will complete the fully funded one-year MSc program and a coordinated one-year internship. The internship allows the candidate to spend six months with IDD on research projects with academics and the GSDRC and the following six months in London with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. Undergo work with the team on a number of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at positioning governance right at the core of Africa’s development. This includes participating in the Now Generation Forum portion of the Ibrahim Forum and the Ibrahim Governance Weekend.

    Program Overview:

    Introducing a unique and instant connection between the academic and real-world policy when it comes to development: this is both grounded in theory and evidence. IDD’s ground-breaking research on governance, leadership, democracy, and think-and-work politically is incorporated into its teaching. Students undergo experience of exploration, innovation, rigour, complexity, and controversy, linking proper theories and real-world situations.

    Foundation Scholarship Pathway Modules

    Foundation Scholarship Pathway Modules Modules required for the Foundation scholarship include:

    1. International Development 20 credits.
    2. Development Policy and Politics 20 credits
    3. Dissertation 60 credits : A specialization in a particular area, with support from a mentor. Overseas fieldwork may be required on a subject chosen by the candidate.

    Optional modules (60 credits):

    Choose from any module across the School of Government. Alternatively, you may select a module from another school or college with the agreement of the Programme Director.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Application criteria:

    • Applicants shall meet the following requirements:
    • A first class Honours degree at the group of recognized universities.
    • Younger than 30 years of age at the time of application.
    • Good competence of English reading and writing skills. Candidates must provide proof of competency for non-native English speakers. The following minimum scores for the IELTS or TOEFL exam are set: 6.5 or 580/93 TOEFL respectively. Please refer to the University’s website for full English language requirements.
    • African nationals residing or belonging to an African nation. Candidates for scholarships are preferred to be residing in Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Scholarship Details

    Austrian Development Cooperation Scholarships 2024 for Study in Austria

    The Austrian Development Cooperation is currently accepting applications for the 2024 scholarships. The scholarships are conferred to students from developing countries to help cover tuition fees and living expenses.

    • The scholarships are accessible to students from the taught priority countries at ADC as well as other developing states
    • The scholarships are especially allocated for the Diploma Course provided by the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management

    The Diploma Course consists of the following:

    • Accommodation: It is expected that scholarship recipients pay for their accommodations. The accommodation fee of €1,700 is required months before the official issuance of the admission letter.
    • Flight tickets: scholarship recipients are responsible for their own travel expenses from their countries to Salzburg and back home.
    • Visa fee: Applicants are required to pay their visa fees. The fee for an 8-month residence permit is €160. The visa fees for entry visa are different according to the Visa D and it is different from country to country please ask your embassy.

    IHE DELFT BLUE SCHOLARSHIPS 2024 IN AMSTERDAM

    Delft Blue Scholarships 2024: Opportunity for International Water Professionals

    Do you study abroad water management and sustainability? IHE Delft is looking for water professionals who are eligible for the Delft Blue Scholarships for on-campus short courses in 2024. Fully funded scholarships focus on professionals with a strong desire to help their home country find water solutions.

    IHE scholarships

    1. MENA Scholarship Programme: People who live in Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman or Tunisia can apply for the MSP scholarship to IHE Delft selected short courses as it does not apply for residents of any other state. Applicants from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya and other countries cannot apply for the same since applicants have nationality country restrictions.
    2. Delft Blue Partial Scholarships: partial scholarships are for water professionals from IHE Delft partners that enable them to be able to take a short course. The scholarships only cover a part of the course costs – third standard course fee, other costs such as a plane ticket, accommodation, and daily subsistence have to be paid by the participant .

    Eligibility for Delft Blue Scholarships:

    To be eligible for a Delft blue partial scholarships, one meets the following conditions

    • IHE Delft short course admittance.
    • one is professionally active in a relevant field.
    • Full-time availability for the course duration without interruption.
    • Must not be employed by a multinational corporation or large commercial organization.

    How to Apply:

    1. Choose Your Course: Apply for academic admission to one of the specified courses before 19 March 2024.
    2. MSP Scholarship Application: Use the Delta online tool to apply for an MSP scholarship by 26 March 2024, 16:00 CEST, after receiving your academic admission email.
    3. Delft Blue Application: Submit your application for a Delft Blue Scholarship by filling out the dedicated form and emailing it to [email protected].

    Financial considerations:

    Delft Blue Scholarships reduce the tuition fee between 30% and 50%. However, the amount will depend on your eligibility category or that of your employer. Additionally, the applicant must be in a position to finance other costs related to the course. This means that you will pay the remaining tuition fee, transport cost, accommodation, and daily maintenance.
