Applications are being accepted for the 2024/2025 Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme . The Aga Khan Foundation’s International Scholarship Programme is a series of scholarships for outstanding scholars covering graduate studies that do not have access to appropriate funding in their home countries. Eligibility
In order to be eligible for an award under the AKF ISP, the applicant must:
- Academic Excellence: Outstanding academic achievement and promise.
- Educational Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent; or have earned (or will earn) a Master’s degree before beginning their AKF ISP-sponsored program.
- Financial Need: Genuine financial need.
- Funding Plan: Have a thoughtful and multi-source funding plan, as well as a reliable and strong financial support.
- Admission: Admission to a reputable postgraduate institution or program.
- Leadership Potential: Strong leadership and professional experience, entrepreneur achievements and development, extracurricular activities and volunteerism, or demonstrated through service and motivation.
Note: Preference given to young applicants under 30 years.
Award Conditions
AKF ISP grants are structured as 50% grant and 50% loan, given that the recipients are to repay 50 per cent of the award amount after duration elapses.
Master’s Package covers the full period of the study course. PhD package is utilized for only two years after which candidates are expected to secure funding from other avenues.
The award will cover tuition and living costs but not travel expenses to and from the host country, clothing, establishment or pre-course costs, or the expenses of family members who may accompany the student.
Once awarded the AKF ISP grant recipients must continue to demonstrate an excellent academic report throughout the postgraduate study to retain the award.
