2024 ABSIP-STANLIB Bursary Programme: Financial Support for Investment Management Careers
2024 ABSIP-STANLIB Bursary Programme is a call for applications at present. The ABSIP National Executive Committee is pleased to hereby announce the opening for applications for the 2024 STANLIB Bursary, through the ABSIP Bursary Fund.
STANLIB, in partnership with ABSIP, will financially support historically disadvantaged students as defined by the B-BBEE Act. This opportunity is reserved for people who are best qualified to seek employment in Investment Management.

Universities:
Bursaries will be provided to individuals studying towards a qualification with which one will find a genuine career path in Investment Management at the following universities:
- Nelson Mandela University
- Rhodes University
- Stellenbosch University
- University of Cape Town
- University of Johannesburg
- University of KwaZulu-Natal
- University of Limpopo
- University of Pretoria
- University of the Venda
- University of the Western Cape
- University of the Witwatersrand
- North-West University
- University of the Free State
Bursary Candidates:
Bursaries will be awarded to individuals with an aspiration to work in financial services, with a particular bias to students registered for Bachelor of Business Science, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science . Preference will be given to students enrolled in BCOM Economics, Business Finance and Investment Management, BSC in Mathematics and Statistics and BCOM Financial analysis.
One must be a full-time student with no permanent work Experience is permanent (vacation work is acceptable). The bursary will be renewed an annual basis subject to one’s academic performance and the availability of funds.
Bursary’s Benefits
The benefits of Bursary include the following:
- Tuition
- Accommodation (ideally on campus, but other arrangements will be considered)
- Book allowance
- Course material allowance
- Stipend determined by financial need
- Additional stipends (such as for a laptop) due to financial need
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Exceptional academic performance with an average of 75% in the core modules/subjects.
- Optional but preferable if the candidate can demonstrate leadership skills and participation in extramural activities such as sports, debating, and chess clubs.
- The bursary is only awarded to candidates who can demonstrate financial need.
- Must be a full-time black student as defined by the BBBEE Act, studying or studying towards qualifications offered at the aforementioned universities.
Applicants need to submit a single-page motivation letter explaining why they are applying for the bursary and studying towards an Investment qualification.
Note: Funding will not be awarded to Stanlib employees, or relatives.
Documents Required:
The applicant must provide the following documents:
- Certified ID copies of the Applicant and the parent/legal guardian.
- Academic Record.
- Fee statement.
- Certified 3 three months payslip and bank statement for the parent or guardian.
