    Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program Overview:

    The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program was launched to support international professionals in becoming leaders who can cooperate to confront local and global problems for the sake of societal well-being.

    Program Objectives:

    The program, which is known worldwide, includes global talent development, including academic and professional work with local peers. This network covers critical sectors for improving societal and institutional capacity.

    Program Impact:

    It is significant that the Humphrey Fellowship Program collaborates with the Fulbright Exchange and aims at engaging U.S.-based and foreign agents in addressing key issues of global concern. In particular, the Program course is dedicated to such issues as effective responses to climate change and environmental challenge, human rights protection, broad access to education, and global health security.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    To qualify for the Humphrey Fellowship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

    • Citizenship in an eligible country
    • Possession of an undergraduate (first university or Bachelor’s) degree
    • Accumulation of a minimum of five years of full-time professional experience
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a track record of public service within the community
    • Limited exposure to the United States
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the English language

    Fellowship Components:

    Professional Affiliation:
    One of the Humphrey Fellowship Program’s fundamental aspects is the six-week professional affiliation experience. During PA, Humphrey Fellows work with U.S.-based organizations, share knowledge and experiences with American professionals, and implement classroom knowledge in practical settings. The affiliation helps Humphrey Fellows to establish long-term connections and make a long-term impact beyond the fellowship year.

    Humphrey Seminar:
    The course is a compulsory course designed to help the Fellows to declare their individual program targets and develop strategies to achieve these targets. The Humphrey Seminar ensures that all participants focus on the program’s overarching goals, gaining a more profound understanding of U.S. society and culture, creating networks, and strengthening leadership skills.

    Global Leadership Forum:
    All Humphrey Fellows benefit from the Global Leadership Forum, which is a series of opportunities designed to strengthen leadership and professional skills. The activities include learning about social, cultural, and political patterns, sharing experiences in the unique cross-sector cohort, and levering the resources and contacts available in Washington, DC.

    Professional Development:
    The Humphrey Fellowship offers advanced professional development activities to help the target audience improve and develop their professional skills. The Fellowship helps expand perspectives on their organization and global issues through development, cooperation, and partnerships. The customizing training includes tailored U.S. community college experiences, thematic trainings to develop specific skills, attendance of significant political and academic conferences, and others.

    Academic Enrichment:
    Humphrey Fellows are placed in cohorts of 13 host universities based on the university’s priority area impact and the Fellows’ professional background. They are placed on educational voyages where they study under esteemed faculty without needing to complete any formal degree or diploma needs. It enables them to network with U.S. counterparts, attend various conferences, and engage in professional affiliations related to their profession.

    Application Process:

    Interested applicants must submit their applications through the U.S. Embassy (Public Affairs Section) or Binational Fulbright Commission in their respective countries. Application deadlines vary by country. Each application must include the following:

    1. Complete responses to all questions: Applicants must provide comprehensive answers to all questions, with essay responses in English addressing the prompts thoroughly.
    2. Two letters of reference in English: Each applicant must submit two letters of reference, with at least one coming from their current employer.
    3. Official transcripts in English: Applicants must ensure that all transcripts uploaded are official and valid documents. Transcripts should include a list of courses taken and grades received. Diplomas are only necessary if the transcript does not provide proof of degree attainment.

    Following national selection, independent review committees in the United States evaluate nominations, and final candidate approval is determined by these committees.
