African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award Program 2024
Applications are now open for the 2024 African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award Program. The program comprises ten scholarships amounting to USD $2,000 each, which will be presented to ten exceptional African graduate students in any scientific field relevant to plant nutrition and the management of nutrients administered to crops. The student will receive the payment, and there are no duties assigned to the recipient.

Eligible Graduate Faculty Students
To qualify, graduate students must meet the following criteria:
- Be currently enrolled in an Africa-based degree-awarding institution.
- Be completing an M.Sc. or MPhil or progressing research on PhDs; as of the submission deadline, applicants may be considered. M.Sc. and M.Phil. students will be encouraged to enter their research phase, and other applicants should have graduated from their training.
- Be pursing degrees in soil science, agronomy, horticultural science, or tree crops science whose primary focus is polyatomic nutrition.
- Applicants who have already received an award from IPNI will be disqualified.
Application Requirements
The application must be submitted in English or French. The following documents are required to complete the application. You must submit the documents electronically:
- Copies of transcripts of all university work ever attempted, including grades received throughout and at graduation. You will need to submit the cumulative and final grade records (GPA or percentile) from these transcripts electronically.
- Two letters of support. At least one must be from your major professor, signed, written on official letterhead, and integrated with the phone number and email address of the person writing the letter in the letter. Both of these letters must be submitted electronically.
- A description of your thesis or dissertation research presented in a way that will allow us to assess the originality and depth of your thesis or dissertation research, the scope of the endeavor, and the innovative approaches you have taken, as well as the potential relevance of your research to your career. Limit to four pages single spaced.
- A brief description of any additional circumstances that we should consider when awarding the award, including any prizes, awards received, work experience, educational career objectives, and relevant extracurricular activities ongoing. Be concise, presenting every point in one page or less.
Please note that the award will be granted independent of any assistantship, scholarship, or other award currently held by the student.
